چکیده

Gang scheduling provides shorter response time and enables interactive parallel programming. To utilize processor resources on interactive parallel programs, global state of distributed parallel processes should be detected. This problem is well-known as \distributed termination problem." In this paper, we propose a practical method to detect a global state of distributed processes. There are two key methods to detect a global state described in this paper. One is by network preemption and the other is by combining global state detection with gang scheduling. The overhead for the detection of a global state is negligible. To implement our scheme, we extend our gang scheduler, SCore-D, to an operating system by implementing a system-call mechanism. We con rmed that our proposed global state detection scheme is very useful on SCore-D.

State Support: A Prerequisite for Global Health Network Effectiveness; Comment on “Four Challenges that Global Health Networks Face”

Shiffman recently summarized lessons for network effectiveness from an impressive collection of case-studies. However, in common with most global health governance analysis in recent years, Shiffman underplays the important role of states in these global networks. As the body which decides and signs international agreements, often provides the resourcing, and is responsible for implementing ini...

Improvement and parallelization of Snort network intrusion detection mechanism using graphics processing unit

Nowadays, Network Intrusion Detection Systems (NIDS) are widely used to provide full security on computer networks. IDS are categorized into two primary types, including signature-based systems and anomaly-based systems. The former is more commonly used than the latter due to its lower error rate. The core of a signature-based IDS is the pattern matching. This process is inherently a computatio...

Optimal Rotor Fault Detection in Induction Motor Using Particle-Swarm Optimization Optimized Neural Network

This study examined and presents an effective method for detection of failure of conductor bars in the winding of rotor of induction motor in low load conditions using neural networks of radial-base functions. The proposed method used Hilbert method to obtain the stator current signal push. The frequency and signal amplitude of the push stator were used as the input of the neural network and th...

Outlier Detection in Wireless Sensor Networks Using Distributed Principal Component Analysis

Detecting anomalies is an important challenge for intrusion detection and fault diagnosis in wireless sensor networks (WSNs). To address the problem of outlier detection in wireless sensor networks, in this paper we present a PCA-based centralized approach and a DPCA-based distributed energy-efficient approach for detecting outliers in sensed data in a WSN. The outliers in sensed data can be ca...

A Proposed Model for Traffic Signal Preemption Using Global Positioning System (gps)

A Traffic Signal Preemption system is an automated system that allows normal operation of traffic lights at automated signalized intersections to be preempted. Preemption of signals is generally done to assist emergency vehicles, such as ambulances, so that response times are reduced and right-of-way is provided in a smooth and controlled manner. This paper proposes an innovative and cost-effec...
